Hans Christian Ørsted

Sunday, January 31, 2010

Hans Christian Ørsted was a Danish physicist and chemist who is most widely known for observing that electric currents induce magnetic fields, an important aspect of electromagnetism. He shaped post-Kantian philosophy and advances in science throughout the late 19th century.

•Faraday and Henry performed lots of experiments to learn about the connection between electricity and magnetism. The results of these experiments have led to the life styles of today's men, who made life easy by using lots of electrical applications.

The research that established Faraday as the foremost experimental scientist of his day was, however, in the fields of electricity and magnetism. In 1821 he plotted the magnetic field around a conductor carrying an electric current; the existence of the magnetic field had first been observed by the Danish physicist Hans Christian Oersted in 1819. In 1831 Faraday followed this accomplishment with the discovery of electromagnetic induction and in the same year demonstrated the induction of one electric current by another.

•Electromagnetic induction- is the production of voltage across a conductor situated in a changing magnetic field or a conductor moving through a stationary magnetic field.

•They use electromagnet, magnet and galvanometer in their experiment.

Who Am I? Exploring Identity

Music

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Music is nourishment to the soul
Music is a feeling you can't control
You can sing along or just plain listen
But if you don't do either, you don't know what you're missing.
Music can define you, even when there are no words.
Music can silent, but still sound as sweet birds.
Music can make you laugh, or music can make you cry.
Music can be funny, or talk of someone who died.
Music is for everyone loves music.
Music is the key!

Sunflakes

If sunlight fell like
snowflakes,
gleaming yellow and so
bright,
we could build a sunman,
we could have a sunball
fight,
we could watch the
sunflakes
drifting in the sky.

We could go sleighing
in the middle of July
through sundrifts and
sunbanks,
we could ride a sunmobile,
and we could touch
sunflakes
I wonder how they'd feel.

Facts about Ramadan, Hajj, and The Five Pillars of Islam

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar. It is the Islamic month of fasting, in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, smoking and indulging in anything that is in excess or ill-natural from dawn until sunset. Fasting is meant to teach the Muslim patience, modesty, and spiritually. For the sake of their God(Allah in Arabic Language) and to offer prayer more than usual, Muslims do Ramadan.
Hajj is a pilgrimage in Mecca. It is also the fifth pillars of Islam and it is currently the largest annual pilgrimage in the world. The Hajj is a demonstration of the solidarity of the Muslim people and their submission to God(Allah in Arabic Language). The pilgrimage occurs in the seventh day to thirteenth day of Islamic Calendar.
Five Pillars of Islam is the term given to the five duties incumbent on every Sunni Muslim and this five practices are essential to Sunni Muslim. These are SHAHADAH which means the profession of faith, SALAH (prayers), ZAKAT (giving of alms), SAWNM (fasting, specifically during Ramadan) and the fifth one is Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca).

Thus, most of the Muslims wanted to reach and experience the Ramadan, Hajj, and the Five Pillars of Islam for their God(Allah in Arabic Language) for more prosperity and guidance. Through this happiness will reign in their heart.

A Rocket Bike

Monday, January 18, 2010

Tim Picken, president of rocket-design firm Orion Propulsion, together with fellow speed enthusiast Glenn May, created the first rocket bike by bolting a 35-pound thrust rocket engine to an ordinary bike. The project's speed didn't satisfy Picken so he tried attaching a 200 pound thrust engine to a new bike. This engine speed is capable of blasting him from 0 to 60 miles an hour in five seconds-fast enough to beat a Porcshe in a drag race.

In place of synthetic rubber fuel, however, the bike uses ordinary roofing tar. To ignite it, Picken placed a model-rocket motor inside the engine. A button on the handle bar fires the model rocket motor which in turn sets off Picken's larger motor by lighting the roofing tar fuel. Picken's rocket bike employs the same hybrid rocket technology as the sub-orbital space plane Spaceship One, whose propulsion system he has also helped in designing.

How it works:

* A toggle switches on the battery pack which arms the ignition system.

* The left thumb button sends power from the battery pack to an igniter on a model rocket motor inside the rocket engine. This vaporizes the roofing tar fuel so it can burn.

* The right thumb button keeps nitrous oxide flowing and the rocket hit as long it is pushed.

* The left brake lever regulates the flow of nitrate and throttles the rocket.

A Flying Submarine called the Cormorant

The Cormorant, a stealthy, jet-powered, autonomous aircraft that could be outfitted with either short range weapons or surveillance equipment, is designed to launch out of the trident missile tubes of the U.S. Navy's gigantic Cold War class submariner. These formerly nuke toting subs which became less useful in the military climate has evolved to favor surgical strikes over nuclear stalemates, but the Cormorant could use their now vacant tubes to provide another unmanned option for spying on or destroying target near the coast.

The Cormorant has to be strong enough to withstand the pressure of 150 feet underwater and manage not to give its position away.

The Skunk Work's answer is a four-ton airplane with gull wings that hinge around its body to fit inside the missile tube. The craft is made of titanium to resist corrosion, and any empty spaces are filled with plastic foam to resist crushing. The rest of the body is pressurized with energy gas. Inflatable seals keep the weapon-bay doors, engine inlet and exhaust covers watertight.

The Cormorant does not shoot out of its tube like a missile. Instead an arm-like docking "saddle" guides the craft out, sending it floating to the surface while the sub slips away. As the drone pops out of the water, the rocket boosters fire and the Cormorant take off. After completing its mission, the plane flies to the rendezvous to coordinate messages it receives from the sub and lands in the sea. The sub then launches a robotic underwater vehicle to fetch the floating drone.

Sunning

Old Dog lay in the summer sun
Much too lazy to rise and run.
He flapped an ear
At a buzzing fly.
He winked a half opened
Sleepy eye.
He scratched himself
On an itching spot.
As he dozed on the porch
Where the sun was hot.
He whimpered a bit
From force of habit
While he lazily dreamed
Of chasing a rabbit
But Old Dog happily lay in the sun
Much too lazy to rise and run.

Cashuel: The energy saver of the future

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Test show that cashuel, oil extracted from cashew shells, lasts longer than ordinary oil by several minutes. It emits less fumes and lessens the usage of the almost non-renewable fossil fuel which is used for machines, cars, etc.
Based from research, cashew is highly flammable because of its acids. It is also proven that cashew shells can be used for igniting fire on materials and is ideal to use in cooking.
Cashew shells are also known to be abundant in Antipolo City because of its cashew nut industry. Cashew shells are crushed and heated to extract the oils from it and thus produce cashuel.
Cashuel already garnered an award from the Division Science Fair on Investigatory Project Making. Further studies are being conducted to maximize the use of cashuel and to test its possibility to run engines like petroleum products do.

My Highschool Life's Highlight

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Now, I am graduating student and in four years there's so many highlights in my high school Life. In first year, all first has come in my teenage life. "First year, First section, first crush and first experience to be a group leader". I also learn new things and lessons in first year. And I'm so happy because I belong in the top 10. I am the Top 4.
In second year, I'm so happy because I thing new episodes will happen. They said that second year is the most difficult year in high school but it is not the hindrance for me to go on. I'm so glad also because finally my crush belongs to our section and became our our new classmate. Likewise, I am the third honor during our Recognition.
In third year, the most anticipated of all student "The Junior-Senior Promenade". Everybody was so happy in celebrating on it. Unfortunately, due to my shyness I'd never having a sweet dance to all even to my crushes. By the way! During recognition I am so very very happy in a sense that I became the top 2 in whole third year.
Lastly in fourth year, Graduation day is the most awaited and followed by the Juniors-Seniors Promenade and now I promised I am not going to be shy. If Graduation Day will come, my family will be proud of me specially In I got an honor for them. To reach that, I must have determination and hardworking. Good luck for all graduating class.

Grade school Memories

After preschool, I step up to grade school. In grade one, my counting and reading ability was improved and I'm so proud because I am the second honor also in Grade two but from grade three to grade six I fall in a third honor but still I'm so thankful because I've successfully accomplished my grade school. I have so many unforgettable memories in grade school.
In fulfilling all reports and circumstances. Sometimes, my classmates are so competitive but I still so patience and calm. All I have to do is to study hard in order to understand deeply all of my lessons so that I could apply it properly.
To sum it up, Understanding Lessons is much important than any rankings and competitions.

Why a child should step first in PreSchool

In June 15, 1996 my parents decided to send me in preschool. At the age of three I started studying and building myself in preschool. Suddenly I finished my preschool after three years because before a child should send to grade school after he/she turns to six.

In preschool, I learn so much things such as evaluating good values, also in physical and mental aspects and specially in maintaining personal hygiene which could I'd never forget. My parents says that a certain child should send in preschool so that his/her brain will enhance properly and as as a preparation for the next stage.

The Happiest Moment in my Life

Monday, January 11, 2010

Last January 02, 1993 at exactly 4:00 pm, a baby boy child was born named Emarjon under the Colonia family and precisely, its me(Mirth's Hunter).
I think that time is my very, very happiest moment in my life. Of course for the first time I see the beauty of the world. Our place is a simple barrio and it surrounded with mountains and there's a wide rice field which is our main livelihood. And so I thank God because until now bankruptcy was never happen in our place. So let's thank God for all, because only God enlightened ourselves and gives us hope which could brings us into happiness in our life.

Individual's Appreciation

All of us must have an appreciation. Appreciation is a simple way of valuing, appreciating and realizing of worth which is given from a certain person. We know that when somebody have done good things for us even though how small it is, we must thank them. In connection of that, another way of thanking is appreciating because it is an another way on how to express our concern and love for someone who gives us strength to live.
Without appreciation, relationships could not stay longer. One example, a relationship of a farmer to his carabao. A carabao that could help him a lot. A farmer should appreciates and he must takes good care for his carabao so that it will stay longer.
So guys, let's make a good intervention for all of us.
